3 New Ideas to Make Learning the Alphabet Fun

Learning the alphabet is one of the most crucial steps not only in preparing your little one for school, but also preparing them for life! Let’s make learning the alphabet an enjoyable experience for both you and your child, and put a twist on the same old review strategies. Here are our top three creative ways to make learning the ABCs easy and fun!

Making Learning the Alphabet Fun

(Tip: Use our dough mats or flashcards to provide children with a visual model as they make letters!)

2. Writing Letters in Shaving Cream

Who says writing has to be boring? Transform your writing practice into a sensory delight by using shaving cream! This method not only makes letter formation exciting but also allows your child to play and learn simultaneously. The best part is that the clean up is super easy!

How to do it:

- Spray a generous amount of shaving cream onto a clean, flat surface (a baking sheet is great for this!)

- Spread it out into a smooth layer.

- Have your child use their fingers to write out letters, their name, or even simple words. You can guide them by saying the letter sounds as they write to reinforce their learning!

3. Alphabet Dig in a Sensory Bin

Sensory bins are a great way to engage young learners! They are super easy to make at home with items you have laying around. Extend the learning by writing the alphabet on a cookie sheet and having your child match the letters as they pull them out!

(Bonus: Each time they find a letter, encourage them to say its name and sound out the letter!)
