DIY Mothers Day Activities for Kids
There’s something extra special about a handmade gift—especially when it’s from your child on Mother’s Day! Mother’s Day is the perfect time to slow down, get creative, and help your little one make something heartfelt that mom can keep forever. Whether it’s a colorful bouquet or a piece of art made with tiny hands, these sweet DIY projects are sure to be treasured for years to come.
Here are a few of our favorite Mother’s Day activities for kids—easy, fun, and full of love!

DIY Mothers Day Activities for Kids
1. Flower Bouquets
Materials:
– Our Free Spring Crafts & Activities download
– Coloring supplies or paint
– Scissors
– Tape
– Construction paper or newspaper
Instructions:
Start by printing the flower templates from our free Spring Crafts & Activities pack. Let your child color or paint each flower however they want—there’s no wrong way to do it! Once the flowers are ready, help them cut out each one.
Then, roll a sheet of construction paper or newspaper into a little cone and tape it to hold. Pop the handmade flowers inside (tape them in if it’s easier!) and just like that—you’ve got a one-of-a-kind bouquet that looks like it came straight from the flower stand, but with way more heart! It’s sweet, colorful, and bursting with that extra-special handmade love only your kiddo can give!
2. Flower Handprints
Materials:
– Flowers picked from your backyard or a walk
– Construction paper
– Glue
– (Optional) Picture frame
Instructions:
Take a little walk together and encourage your child to collect flowers, leaves, or petals they find along the way. Once home, trace your child’s hand on a sheet of construction paper.
Apply glue inside the handprint and let your little one carefully place their flower treasures within the outline, filling the shape of their hand. You can turn the rest of the paper into a card with a sweet note or even frame it as a beautiful Mother’s Day keepsake!
3. Handprint Flower Pot
Materials:
– Our Free Spring Crafts & Activities download
– Paint
– Paper
– Glue or tape

Instructions:
Start by printing one of the flower pot templates from our Free Spring Crafts & Activities download. Let your little one decorate it however they’d like—paint, crayons, stickers, glitter... the works!
Next, paint your child’s hand and press it onto a clean sheet of paper to make a colorful handprint or a couple! These will be your flowers! Next, glue your flower pot to the bottom of that piece of paper. Now it’s time to build the arrangement—draw stems by hand or get creative with green straws, paper, pipe cleaners, or anything you have on hand. Arrange the handprint “flowers” so they look like they’re blooming right out of the pot, secure them in place—and you’ve got a sweet, handmade gift that’s as thoughtful as it is cute!
Your Turn!
Mother’s Day is all about celebrating the ones who hold it all together with love, snacks, and superpowers. And we know that what moms want most is simply to spend time with the little people who made them moms in the first place—and maybe have a sweet gift made by those tiny hands, too! These simple, love filled activities are the perfect way to make memories and a keepsake she’ll have forever.
